I havent seen a single halogen setup that beats our OEM 4300k HID. Usually if the bulbs are separate, people try to "match" the HID output (usually doesn't work, Halogen just isn't white). you have to get the corresponding 55w ballasts if you change the bulb from 35 to 55w. The easiest route is to use a conversion kit. (SIDE NOTE): Usually HID's aren't recommended for High Beam applications (if you have a separate bulb for high and low), because frequent off/on of the bulb strains the systems (the igniter mostly).

Maybe a gen 2 owner can chime in as well to their particular experience with the headlight housing. And honestly, whenever I've turned bulbs on outside of their housings (incandecet, halogen, LED, HID) they usually look BRIGHTER to me. I don't think they would bother to make the highbeam power draw any lower in the system (would be counter to making a high beam brighter). The highest-efficiency halogen bulbs produce only 38 lumens per watt, at maximum. if its on a standard reflector, id say 35 watters are plenty, if its on a stock projector. Light reflects differently/higher to get that "brighter" high beam. A high-quality, standard D2S OEM HID bulb at 35 watts produces 74 lumens per watt. what typically makes "High" versus "Low" beam lights different is the housing and how much they are pointed up. I can imagine they would continue this into your generation Mazda. There is no difference in the bulbs on a 2004 through 2008 Mazda 6, they are both the same 55w stock halogen bulb. proper 55W ballast outflows 65 watts of power, whereas all factory headlamp wiring has 16-55 watts capacity. Using 55W is not legal to some central states as it causes excessive glare to the oncoming traffic and drivers. They do say it will drop the color temp some, probably because it's blasting more light through the glass.Īs to the high versus low beam question, that I can answer. Their brand offers fantastic and bright HID conversion kits that are perfect upgrades to low-quality stock halogen bulbs. 0 Comments It depends on the bulb’s size and wiring factor. I couldn't offer too much insight into the color temp wash out you'll get with the brighter kit.
